Experience:
I started my career as a news editor for weekly newspapers. I worked with words, order, creativity and direction. For the last 30 years, as a psychotherapist, I have worked with people, their lives, their feelings, their transitions. When my clients came to me dissatisfied with their jobs or their direction in school, I wanted to offer them more concrete information about what fit well for them and how. That led me to the Highlands Program. I have been certified since 2001 as a Highlands provider.
Helping people know more about themselves helps them lead their lives and choose their paths from a position of strength. It is not enough to know how smart you are. To be successful and satisfied, you need to know how you are smart.
|
Clients:
I work with high school and college students and adults in the workforce or reentering the workforce. I also offer the Highlands with student groups and nonprofit organizations.
My professional identification as a therapist is a great complement to my work with the Highlands program. Once you know yourself, you have a much better understanding of how to work with and get along with colleagues, fellow students, professors, bosses. It saves a lot of time and worry.

Experience:
In 1990, I began my work with special needs children, adolescents, and young adults by providing both individual and family counseling in my role as a psychotherapist. However, I soon realized that many troubled young people need more than weekly counseling sessions to adequately address their needs. When I began working as Forensic Social Worker, seeking placements for troubled children and adolescents for the Right to Treatment Unit of the Juvenile Division of the Dade County Public Defender´s Office in Miami, Florida, I quickly became aware of the problems and barriers faced by so many parents seeking an appropriate academic and/or therapeutic setting to address their children´s needs.
I provided technical assistance in the development of a resource guide to selected federal policies affecting children´s social and emotional development (birth to six years), while working at the Schneider Institute for Health Policy at the Heller School/Brandeis University. The resource guide was: Off to a Good Start: Research on the Risk Factors for Early School Problems and Selected Federal Policies Affecting Children´s Social and Emotional Development and Their Readiness for School (Huffman & Cavanaugh, et. al., 2000).

I primarily utilize the Highlands Ability Battery with High School and College Students and those persons looking to identify potential majors in college or graduate school.

I am a Law of Attraction coach with 25 years of working as a manager in the health and voluntary sector. I specialised in HR and change management. I now work specifically with teenagers and their parents. I support them in their roles and encourage change. My clients have found combining coaching with the Highlands Assessment to be a brilliant combination. It is motivating and inspirational and I have loved incorporating he Highlands Assessment successfully into my coaching business.
I am a catalyst for change: in everyone´s heart they know how they can be successful in their chosen path, the trick is to know how to peel away the layers to enable people to see and believe how they can access this knowing and excel at it. Coaching and the Highlands Assessment ignites this process.

I work mainly with teenagers unsure about their future and adults in transition, sometimes the parents of the teenagers as they are both at a point of transition.
