I use the Highlands Ability Battery to accomplish in several hours what typically takes students several semestersī worth of tuition, a little bit of luck, and lots of frustration to accomplish on their own. What we accomplish is awesome: an understanding of natural talents, opening up new college/career choices and possibilities, and questioning of previously faulty assumptions about college and career opportunities. We review past and pending choices. We revisit neglected and unappreciated abilities. We renew old interests. My goal is to help students connect their current choices to knowledge about themselves for future use.
The insights and experience of my 25+ years as a practicing psychologist provide my clients with meaningful, practical, and intuitive feedback they can use for the rest of their lives.
My first client was a teenager who was going to the University of Georgia to major in business. However, his ability profile was NOT anything like a business majorīs should be. His profile indicated he would enjoy sports broadcasting. His face lit up like a Roman candle. He turned to his parents and said, "See. I told you Iīd be good at that." His parents stated they had never seen him this excited about going to college. This has been repeated in almost every feedback conference I have done. All students deserve this opportunity. So do their parents.
