 I help students turn their struggles into success through learning HOW to learn. My programs go beyond study skills and give students confidence and problem solving skills. The Highlands Ability Battery has added to my students´ successes by helping them identify their strongest learning channels and strengths that they can build upon and how to compensate for the weaker channels. I meet with students and their parents to discuss the results of the battery and map a strategy for success in high school or college. I also coach adults making career decisions.
Students recognize that "I´ve been there, done that"—that is, struggled in school. As a sensitive communicator who "speaks their language" we are able to discover the students´ goals and strengths.
I´ve had a passion for helping kids learn and succeed. School shouldn´t have to be a struggle as it was for me before I learned how my brain works! School stress affects everyone in the family and I feel gratified to be able to work with families and help them change frustration into relief.
When I help midlife individuals, unhappy in their careers, I´m glad to have Highlands to help them discover their next step. I was certified as a Highlands Affiliate in 2003 to add to my work with students and teachers. For over 18 years I have coached students and taught staff development using brain-based learning methods. Previously I was a professional counselor in private practice. I´ve worked in career consulting for over 7 years.
Bachelors in Psychology University of Houston, Texas.
Masters in Counseling Montclair University, New Jersey. My clients are middle school, high school, college students, plus individuals searching for a new career.
